Big C

It has recently struck me rather strange at how many young men are being stricken with different types of Cancer.

Someone I love very much has fought the battle and came out the other side a much better person than when he started. I didn't know him at the time but from what he has told me about it he is now a much better a person to others and himself.

Now on a site I read quite often about Corey, a comic addict and gay guy in NYC, he recommended a new site from another guy who seemed quite similar to him.

Well, Corey loves DC comics as I do so i thought this new one would be a nice one too.

Starting to read I learn that the writer(aka, Wolf of Steel), a 31yo guy, loves comics and is starting his fight with cancer.

Not sure if you needed all that info but go check it out. If you know what he is going through or just want to show your support and love of comics, take a gander.

And just to be on the safe side: Read, Check and See your Doctor.

Too Strange Not to Include It.

<< Od Occurrence >>
Dwarf swallowed by hippo

A hippopotamus swallowed a circus dwarf in a
freak accident in northern Thailand last week.

The circus dwarf, Od, was in mid-act, bouncing
on a trampoline, when he accidentally jumped
sideways... and straight into the mouth of
Hilda the hippopotamus, who was yawning on the
sidelines, waiting for her act to get underway.
Hilda's gag reflex took over.. and Od was
swallowed whole.

The 1000 spectators in the audience applauded
wildly ... until they realised what they were
watching wasn't part of any act.

Can you imagine?

Wednesday already and I haven't posted like I have wanted to for the past three days.

So if I didn't mention it in one of the last posts I spent this past weekend in Baltimore, MD (Maryland, for my international friends). I was there for, of all things, a volleyball tournament.

BELIEVE (otherwise known as the Baltimore mantra.)

My friend Tony and I drove out of Jersey City mid afternoon and had a great drive down to the City of Baltimore. Found our host hotel, the Mount Vernon Hotel, rather easily. Easily when you consider it is about three blocks from the host hotel we have had for the past 4 years. We have been at the Wyndham Sheraton for years now.

Funny thing is the hotel this year is also part of a business/hospitality college. So it was student run and it was in an old YMCA building. Rather interesting. Anyway, it was nothing to speak of but most people were staying there so at least there was some mingling in the lobby. We actually didn't get to see many people other than in the lobby since our room was on the first floor.

I will have to say it was hard to be in a hotel with no wireless service. Shouldn't that be standard now.

Ah, The Standard, I do hear that we will be getting one of those in NYC sometime soon.

Anyway, back to the story....God, i hope this isn't going to turn into a rambling of my weekend, but be forewarned I don't edit so it probably will.

Registration party....same people mostly as you see in NYC. Since most of the teams consist of NY teams. Out to dinner afterwards with Tony, Justin, Lew, Ron and Orlando. Their teams did well also in the B division. Tony's team came in 10th but the rest, all playing together on a NY team, took 4th place. Was a good match. They were happy, even if they didn't medal.

Saturday play. Fun. Lost a match we shouldn't have. Yet, again we took one game from the top seeded team. Just as we did in Big Apple, yes, it was the same team. So again we ruined their record and made them 7-1 (out of the 8 games everyone plays on Saturday). We went 5-3, not sure what happened in the one match. Think we were sleeping and a team that only had three wins on Saturday took us. We missed our Big Apple record of 5-2-1, that tie really hurt in Big Apple. I wouldn't have minded a tie this weekend though.

Seeding Party.....The Hippo. Baltimore gay bar/club. Cute show. Good food. Sushis and pastas and cake. Enough to carb you up for the next day. No open bar though. We, in NYC, at least have a 3 hour open bar.

Sunday play. Tough. Started out against a great team. Lost first match. Then had to play in losers bracket. We knocked out 3 NYC teams before coming up against NY Seven again. Which we lost and then they went on to win the tournament. We finished 5th out of 16 teams.

After watching a bit, Tony and I started our drive to Atlantic City (AC). It was about 4:30 and we had a 8 o'clock show time. Thought we had plenty of time. Not sure why but traffic was crazy all throughout Maryland. We ended up getting to AC at 7:42, parked, ran got our tickets and were seated at our table about 2 minutes before the curtain went up.

“Nights on Broadway III” was the show at Caesar's Palace. Sorry about the crappy link for the show but Caesar's has taken their page down.

Tony's friend Felicia Finley is the star of the show. Sorry, she was the star. The show closed on the 26th of April, otherwise I would so recommend a trip down to see it.

After the show we went backstage, met some of the cast as they lounged in the green room, waited for Felicia and then sat with her in her dressing room while she got ready. Such a great girl, who is also a real estate broker in NYC. She had actually closed her first deal just the day before I met her. Pictures and seeing her on stage really don't let you see just how gorgeous of a woman she is.

After walking her out; meeting her father who was visiting to see her show, Tony and I went to get some dinner. Just as dinner was starting I get a call from someone mighty special who I am counting the days to see again. 7 days and counting.

Spoke for a couple of minutes, but hung up so not to be rude. Then I got a great text message to cap off the night. Which I, of course, showed to Tony and he said it was just too sweet, in a good way.

I blew $10 on slots after dinner and I was done. Yes, I can cut loose like the rest of them in AC.

We drove back around midnight and somehow we were back at Tony's place by 2am. 2 hours of driving for a trip that takes 3 minutes. Oh, I forgot to tell you we were going at the speed of light.

Okay, honest opinion, do I need to find myself an editor? Should I learn to really edit myself and not give details? Avoid the little things? I think it is the little things that make it better.

7 days.

A Good Start...

Check out: YOU KNOW ONE

A new site, self explanatory. Not finished but a very promising start.

I will be checking back, I hope you check now and again later.

Discussion Time.

Check out Rocco's blog. The guy seems to either make people laugh or piss them off royally. This post actually made me laugh. It takes me back to the mean days. But seriously, people, you know who you are.....many love to be in HX.

Take it with a grain of salt and you just might be able to laugh. If your too serious, well, I can say I added to the list of comments he receives from people for every post he puts up.

The home page for his site.

Flow

So my man is about to return to me after being gone 31 days so far; it will be 45 days by the time he gets here. I am so excited I can hardly sleep. No, seriously, I have been having the hardest time sleeping lately. I go to sleep around 3am, yes, I am a night owl, and I wake up around 5am feeling like I have slept for days. Then I go back to sleep to wake up in time for the Today show to start.

Well, I should say I wake up for Early Today and then go back to sleep and then wake up for Today with Matt and Katie. Only time I have slept really well since he has left was when I wasn't feeling well or was just so wiped out that I could hardly stand.

I hope he knows how much his presence, even by phone or chat, has meant to me. I think he does. For a very closed person like me it is hard to open up to someone, even if I love them. I am trying harder than ever.

I have friends who I have known for years who tend to think I actually work for some clandestine agency. Just call me Christopher Bristo. Hell, give me a wardrobe like they give her, well not the dresses, but I can do disguises and hot designer wear and I will be your super spy. Well, for the good guys.

I am simply a guy, 33, who is still trying to find his place in this crazy world the even crazier New York City; Manhattan to those of us who actually live here. New York City actually encompasses all 5 boroughs. And yes, I have been called a Manhattan snob, but if my man was to move here I would be willing to settle JUST over the bridge in Brooklyn Heights. Many consider that still Manhattan, but it isn't.

I do think it is time for me to get serious. I have just been floating until now. I can make things happen for myself and other people but I am not doing anything I want to do, besides volleyball that is.

And yes, anyone who knows me will tell you that just about all of my free time is spent playing or coaching volleyball. It makes me very happy. This will not change....well, not until the knees go then I will really become a tyrant of a coach.

Back to the topic. Wait, is there a topic? I do believe I am just writing from a flow of consciousness. Wow, I am conscious. Where will I put this when I am done? Is it too personal for the blog? Shall I just send it to Schawn? He does enjoy these things...me opening up.

Oh yeah, I have come to really love CAKE. They rock. Thanks Baby.

I do wonder what it is that I am waiting for. Career wise I mean. What is it that will propel me to quit what I am doing? Really examine what will make me happy. Is it the fear of money? Will I not be able to support myself? Will I have to give up a lot of what I have become accustomed to? Will I have to move out of the city for a time? Okay, so that just told me I can't change. I guess maybe that is one of the things keeping me where I am.

I think if I ever did therapy this would be a very good session. Well, it is therapy isn't it? I am telling you exactly what is on my mind. Rambling. Freestyle. No questions from anyone but myself. When is my hour up? Or has the time gone to 90 minutes now because of all the problems in the world?

Does anyone read this? I would love to hear back from anyone who reads this entry. Write a comment. If I know you or not, let me know what you think. About yourselves, about me, about love, about work or about life.

So to sum things up I am pretty happy with myself as a person. I feel like I am becoming a better person everyday. Probably because I am very happy. I am nicer, I know that. Hard to be mean and sarcastic with a real smile on your face. The smirk is gone. Okay, well it is gone when the workday is over.

Love is always good. Makes you, or should I say me, feel special. I have only had a real love maybe 2 times in my life. They both remain very special to me. One was my first love Jeff. The second was Carter. Both great men. Love when our paths cross. Jeff was in LA, so I don't see him but every couple of years when he stops through NYC if I know he is around.

Carter on the other hand lives in NYC, was my first real NY love. I can't wait for Carter to meet Schawn. He will be happy for me. He will know that my heart has healed and I am able to really feel something for someone again. He will know that when I leave him there will not be a sinking in my heart. Wow, damn, that was personal. If you know my website you can go see a picture of Carter, that is if you can figure out which one he is. The pictures are not labeled. I wish you good guessing.

Okay, so I am a little drained now. Never having revealed so much at one time. But I do think I will be doing this more often. Wow, this is long. Will it fill the whole page for the blog with one post.

Do I give a damn? No.

I love you all.

Okay, some of you.

Well, at least one of you. The ones I don't know I like you and hope you are doing well.

Be happy....wait, delete that because i know people get pissed off when told to be happy.

Oh, here is a question to also comment on when you are writing me to tell me about yourselves:

Do you think you have to give a compliment when you are given one?

I am sorry but I don't. I have learned to accept a compliment, in the spirit it was given. I am sorry, I am not always in the mood to give one back. Sometimes there is nothing to give back. I actually had a discussion about this with the person. I said I can say something just for the sake of saying something....it won't be real or I can give you a compliment when it is appropriate and genuine.

Okay, enough from me today. I think this is being posted to the world since I have asked for people to respond and I am not actually speaking just to Schawn on this one.

Give me some insight people. Thanks.

My friend Sako sent me a bunch of picture from his friends in Rio trying to coax him into moving back. Just loved this sunset shot.

How I Spent the Afternoon.
